Autoantibodies against acetycholine receptor

Anti-acetylcholine receptor

Incubated Anti-Acetylcholine Receptor ELISA
  • The anti-acetylcholine receptor assay is used for the serological detection of autoantibodies against acetylcholine receptors (AChR). The sensitive and highly specific test contributes substantially to serodiagnostics for myasthenia gravis (MG) and is an essential aid in securing final diagnosis of MG.
  • Various serological tests are available for MG diagnostics. Initially, an acetylcholine inhibitor test can be performed. If the test result is in the normal range, autoantibodies against AChR should be investigated. The Anti-Acetylcholine Receptor ELISA and the Anti-Acetylcholine Receptor RIA yield the best and most reliable results for this application.
  • The assay is based on fully recombinant acetylcholine receptors with a gamma or epsilon subunit and is a sensitive and specific test for serological diagnosis of MG. The quantity and mixing ratio of purified adult and foetal receptors were selected such to provide the test with a large linear dilution range.
