sIgA

sIgA in saliva

Secretory IgA (sIgA), which is synthesised in e.g. the salivary glands, is a marker for the immune defence status of the human organism and is indirectly associated with stress.

The sIgA concentration is an indicator of, for example, mental stress, psychological or physical strain, susceptibility to infection, impaired immunological barriers, autoimmune diseases (e.g. Sjögren's syndrome) or pharmacological treatment.

The determination of sIgA in saliva with the sIgA Saliva ELISA can be fully automated.

For comprehensive stress diagnostics, the sIgA determination should be supplementary to the measurement of free cortisol, in order to indirectly establish the extent of the individual physiopathological effect of stress (stress reactivity).
